We are to
walk as Jesus walked |
-
"Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus
did" (1 John 2:6).
We are to be transformed into the
likeness of Christ |
-
"And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the
Lords glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory,
which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
-
"Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off
your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in
knowledge in the image of its Creator" (Colossians 3:9-10).
Jesus calls us to become more like
Him by imitating Him |
-
"When he had finished washing their feet, he put on
his clothes and returned to his place. "Do you understand what I have done for
you?" he asked them. "You call me Teacher and Lord, and
rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your
feet, you also should wash one anothers feet. I have set you an example that you
should do as I have done for you" (John 13:12-15).
We are to love one another, so we
may become more Christ-like |
-
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I
have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my
disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:34-35).
-
"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved
you" (John 15:12).
We are to have a humble,
self-sacrificing attitude |
-
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit,
but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only
to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the
same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality
with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a
servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled
himself and became obedient to deatheven death on a cross" (Philippians 2:3-8).
