We can
face death without fear |
|
|
-
"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow
of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort
me" (Psalm 23:4).
|
|
The believer will dwell in God's
house forever |
|
|
-
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my
life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever" (Psalm 23:6).
|
-
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God;
trust also in me. In my Fathers house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would
have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a
place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I
am. You know the way to the place where I am going" (John 14:1-4).

|
To live is Christ; to die is gain |
|
|
-
"For to me, to live is Christ and to die is
gain" (Philippians 1:21).
|
|
Paul wanted to go home to be with
the Lord |
|
|
-
"If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean
fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two:
I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary
for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I
will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, so that through my
being with you again your joy in Christ Jesus will overflow on account of me"
(Philippians 1:22-26).

|
The death of the Lord's saints is
precious |
|
|
-
"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of
his saints" (Psalm 116:15).
|
|
Those who die in the Lord are
blessed |
|
|
-
"Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write:
Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the
Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them"
(Revelation 14:13).

You can have comfort concerning
those who have died in Christ |
|
|
-
"Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about
those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe
that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who
have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lords own word, we tell you that we who
are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede
those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud
command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in
Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up
together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the
Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words" (1 Thessalonians
4:13-18).

Jesus is the resurrection and the
life |
|
|
-
Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise
again." Martha answered, "I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the
last day." Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who
believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will
never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11:23-26).

|
Some people die in order to be
removed from the coming evil |
|
|
-
"The righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his
heart; devout men are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away
to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they
lie in death" (Isaiah 57:1-2).
